The garden
The butterfly flits from flower to flower looking for his bride-to-be, finding qualities in each of them but finding fault with them too. Getting in a bit of a flutter, you might say! In this garden, visitors are as giddy as the butterfly. They go from one flower to the next without being able to decide which is the most beautiful. Several islets of plants of various shapes and sizes compose a bouquet containing a wide variety of species, some of which, including daisies, dahlias and mint, are mentioned in the story. Others have been added at our initiative, specially selected for their beauty, special characteristics and the attraction they hold for butterflies: buddleias, knapweed and scabiouses! These sweet-smelling nectariferous flowers, much appreciated by butterflies and humans alike, also attract nectar-gathering insects such as bees. Such impromptu visitors will bring further subtle, light and passing touches of colour to this garden of monochrome flowers. It contains white flowers only, in order to highlight their diversity in each tiny detail, shapes, petals and pistils alike, contrasting with the green of their leaves.

Cyril Servettaz is a native of Dordogne whose passion for drawing and plants first of all made him decide to take a work/study course leading to a Higher Technical Certificate (BTS) in Landscaping. In 2011, following up on his taste for landscape, he enrolled at the National Higher School of Architecture and Landscape in Bordeaux. It was there that he first met Hannes, a German landscaping student who was spending an Erasmus year in his class. Their meeting motivated him to travel in his turn, and he spent an Erasmus year at Berlin Technical University in 2014 – an enriching experience that led him to stay on in Germany, working for an agency as well as on garden creation and maintenance projects before graduating as a State-registered (DLPG) landscaper in 2016.
A landscape engineer who graduated from Dresden Technical University in 2015, Hannes Heucke was born in a little village in East Germany. He moved to Bordeaux in 2012 to spend an Erasmus year at the National Higher School of Architecture and Landscape, where he met Cyril Servettaz. With a real passion for travel, photography and drawing, he takes every opportunity to create sketchbooks depicting landscapes, architectural works and scenes from everyday life. He currently lives in Berlin, working for the VOGT landscaping agency.
