Le jardin
Drawn into a labyrinth of gold and silver, visitors move between emergency blankets that reflect their figures, as well as those of the plants. One side is gold and at its base is a geometric arrangement of warm weather plants. The other side is silver highlighted by a water feature, with aquatic plants dotted here and there. The dry garden and the water garden symbolise the elements unique to the Earth. It is neither a sacred place for the dead nor an ideal for the living.
On the contrary, this garden questions life on Earth and draws attention to the danger our planet is in. We are in a world living on borrowed time. The paths represent the attempts made up humanity to undergo an environmental awakening. The emergency blankets also evoke the often strenuous migrations of people, plants and animals who, as they move, seek a more suitable paradise where they can protect themselves. An allegory of contemporary tragedies, this garden implicitly poses the question: do we still deserve our paradise?

Augustin Descamps, a landscaper and graduate of the Bordeaux National Graduate School of Architecture and Landscape Engineering, chose “the art of playing in towns” as the subject of his final dissertation in 2016, thereby taking an interest in landscapes for play. Far from this issue, he now works in Vietnam. The first project he was assigned by the agency Hien Vo, which is gradually contributing to the identification, reputation and involvement of the landscaper role in various Vietnamese projects. LJ-Asia’s recent involvement in the design of Cam Ranh International Airport demonstrates the evolving position of the landscaper in Vietnam. Another sign that this profession is being recognised is his involvement, through temporary urban installations, in the 2018
PlaytimeFestival in Ho Chi Minh City, aimed at promoting the appropriation of public spaces. Hien Vo, where she draws on her experience for the benefit of such projects as ecological parks, residences or private gardens. Adeline Le Cocq is an architect, after completing a baccalauréat STI Arts Appliquées (A level equivalent, science and industrial techniques stream specialising in Applied Art), she attended the Bordeaux National Graduate School of Architecture and Landscape Engineering. After her graduation in 2017, she and Augustin Descamps participated in the first edition of
Création en Cours 2016-2017, an artist-in-residence initiative for young people led by Ateliers Medicis with support from the Ministry of Culture and in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education. They worked together with school children to create a garden in the playground of a primary school in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet. Since then, she has been working in Ho Chi Minh City, in Vietnam, in an architecture and interior design agency. Mariana Sardoeira, a 2004 Architecture Graduate from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, gained such a strong interest in landscape over time that she has made a career out of it. In 2012, she moved to Rio de Janeiro where she was able to round her passion off with skilled experience by designing landscape layouts at various project levels. In 2018, on her return to Portugal, she accepted Pedro Pedalino’s invitation to join the de Madrid, ainsi qu'un diplôme de spécialisation en paysage dans le domaine de l'aménagement paysager. Il créé Colectivo Desenfreno, collectif qui développe de petites installations urbaines en Espagne et remporte plusieurs prix tels que Desenfreno Amarillo (Festival d'art White Nights, Madrid, 2010), Vaya Valla (Festival international d'art de Benicassim, 2011). En 2014, il arrive au Vietnam et rejoint ensuite Hien Vo team and continues to design and develop Lusitanian gardens.
Après avoir sillonné des kilomètres de routes en France en tant que commercial, Laurent Descamps, se rêve de devenir bon jardinier et d’en faire sa profession. Il décide d’accomplir cette envie, augure sa reconversion en repartant à l’école afin d’étudier les rudiments de l’art de jardiner, notamment par la découverte et l’apprentissage des noms vernaculaire et scientifique des plantes. Cette formation accomplie, il crée Jardins et Clos en 2005, société destinée à concevoir, créer et entretenir de nombreux jardins, autour et dans la ville de Fontainebleau. Il le fait encore aujourd’hui en toutes saisons avec soin et passion.
Phuong Nguyen, ddiplômée du Master en développement urbain durable de l'Université technique de Darmstadt en Allemagne. Elle s'intéresse très vite à l'écologie urbaine au cours de ses études. En 2018, Phuong a l’occasion d’affûter ses connaissances sur ce sujet en participant à l'atelier Smart City, Village and Region, lancé par l’Université de Gadjah Mada en Indonésie. Elle a également enseigné en tant qu’architecte à l’Université de Technologie de Saïgon (HUTECH) avant de rejoindre Hien Vograduated from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture with a degree in Urban Engineering in May 2018. During her final year, her work focused on revitalising a village not far from Hue in the centre of Vietnam. Faced with the rise of mass tourism, many sites, like this village, must rethink the way they are organised and their flow management. During this project, she did her utmost to rethink the location’s urban planning and in particular the way in which people move around. Two trips to Switzerland, a country she loved, have made her want to go back a third time as soon as possible.
Adeline Le Cocq est architecte, après un bac STI Arts Appliquées, elle intègre l'École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture et de Paysage de Bordeaux. Diplômée en 2017, elle participe avec Augustin Descamps à la première édition du dispositif Création en Cours 2016-2017, piloté par les Ateliers Medicis avec le soutien du Ministère de la Culture et en coopération avec le Ministère de l'Éducation Nationale. Ils réalisent ensemble et avec les écoliers un jardin dans la cour de récréation d'un établissement du niveau primaire à Saint-Paul de Fenouillet. Elle exerce depuis son métier à Ho Chi Minh City, au Vietnam, dans une agence d'architecture et de design d’intérieur.
Mariana Sardoeira, diplômée en architecture de l'Université d'Architecture et des Arts de Porto en 2004, est tombée peu à peu amoureuse du paysage jusqu’ à en faire son métier. En 2012, elle s’installe à Rio de Janeiro où elle a l'occasion de parfaire cette passion par la réalisation d'aménagements paysagers sur plusieurs échelles de projet. En 2018, de retour au Portugal, elle rejoint l'équipe de LJ-Asia après l'invitation de Pedro Pedalino et continue à dessiner et développer des jardins lusitaniens.
Hien Vo a été diplômée de l'Université d'Architecture de Saigon en génie urbain en mai 2018. Son travail de fin d’études porte sur la revitalisation d’un village situé non loin de Hué, au centre du Vietnam. Face à l’essor du tourisme de masse, de nombreux sites, tel ce village, doivent repenser leur propre organisation et leur gestion des flux. Elle s’est évertuée sur ce projet à reconsidérer l’urbanisme du lieu et notamment la manière de se mouvoir. Deux voyages en Suisse, pays qu’elle a adoré, lui donnent envie d’y retourner au plus vite une troisième fois.
