The garden
This garden invites visitors to lift their faces up to the sky to enjoy its invigorating light, and to gorge themselves on its immensity.
Entering under cover, they will experience the body. They will enjoy its weight, its taking root, and will be free to make their way through the wicker stems, which emerge from the dense mass of the Earth, stretch up towards the Sky and finally are uncontrollably lured into bending down to the ground.
Climbing plants start the walk towards the sky. After a section with flowers, the garden forms a clearing where you can experience the feeling of eternity for an instant.
DESIGNERS
Between 2001 and 2003… Géraldine, Julie and Caroline did their initial work at the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Arts - Olivier de Serres” [the Olivier de Serres National Higher Institute for Applied Arts and Artistic Trades] in Paris. They all obtained a “BTS” [advanced vocational qualification], as an Architectural Environment Visual Artist for Julie, and as Interior Architects for Géraldine and Caroline, and then headed off down different sidetracks.
Julie went to the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure du Paysage” [National Higher Institute for Landscape] in Versailles, whereas Géraldine continued her architecture studies at the “Ecole de la Villette” in Paris. As for Caroline, she continued her training at the School of Architecture in Nantes, within the framework of a set design DPEA [Architectural School Diploma].
2005… Julie headed off for Norway, to the University of Natural Sciences of Arts, as well as to the school of architecture in Oslo.
In 2007, she graduated as a landscape architect with work on the subject of: “Environmental and landscape challenges in an insular environment – Management of flows and landscape actions on the “Ile aux Moines” in collaboration with the “Conservatoire du Littoral Bretagne” [Institution for preservation of the coast - Brittany].
2007… it was also an exchange year for Géraldine, in Montreal, at the “Ecole d'Architecture du Paysage” [Institute of Landscape Architecture]. There, projects dealt with the large Canadian landmass along with those on a city scale. She worked on her diploma which was on the subject of rehabilitating railway wastelands in the Saint Henri district of Montreal. She came back home to support it from the other side of the Atlantic.
September 2007… Caroline dreams up her first theatre set design projects, in particular with the Nadia Xerri-L Company – (Paris) with whom she created the “Couteau de Nuit” [Night Knife] play in October 2008. She built spaces that support the physical commitment of the actors on the set.
During this time, somewhere between the banks of the Doubs and National Highway 15, the meeting between Julie and Géraldine hit the bull’s eye at the Anton and Partners landscape architecture agency (landscape and town planning, Arcueil).
2008… Géraldine again went through the subjects of town, landscape and public spaces, with “Groupe-6” this time.
2009 … Julie became a landscape architect at Philippe Panerai’s agency (Urbanisme et Ville Durable [Town Planning and the Sustainable Town], Paris). Caroline, a jack of all trades by conviction, opened up her set designer activities to technical theatrical trades: construction and stage management. She was involved in various creative projects, in particular at the “Théâtre National de Bretagne” [National Theatre of Brittany] in Rennes.
2010.. above all it is the desire to dream together which motivates us and brings us to Chaumont…
