This year Florence Mercier will develop colour in the garden she created in 2008.
The garden was built as a poetic garden: a metaphor. It is comprised of three fragments of landscape, each representing a continent. Calling up an emotion, an impression for the walker, recalling an atmosphere, an image of one of the continents: the tropical forest, notably Oceania; the European continent with a field of flowers; the plinth that one also finds in the Shinto garden in Japan.
The colour content “works on emotions, on what one can feel in relation to plants”.

After having studied at the École Nationale Supérieure du Paysage in Versailles, Florence Mercier founded her agency in 1988. She works on landscaping projects of varying proportions such as the territorial garden (plateau d’Épinay-sur-Orge, Villiers-sur-Orge, Ballainvilliers). The agency is currently reworking the grounds of Orléans-La-Source University as well as major landscaping projects, such as “la zone de référence”, at Saint-Dizier. Several visits to Japan have enriched her mannerisms, notably in the way she conceives gardens (Vallon Garden at Cachan, Songis Park at Troyes, le Grand Mail dup arc des Lilas, the banks of the Seine at Épinay-sur-Seine).
Her thought process is spatially orientated, the form which it takes and its dynamic relationship with the surroundings. The different gardens which she has created constitute a spatial experiment, setting the scene for an ideal stroll.
