Un divan au jardin

The garden

A glimpse into the world of psychotherapy, it diverts its clichés from the therapist’s consulting room. At the entrance, a small metal plaque that is gilded and engraved, an unconditional element of medical spaces, welcomes the visitor.  At the heart of the garden, there is a couch where you can lie down to talk about your troubles.  Behind the couch, neither a person in a suit nor a notebook, but a tree, silent and benevolent.

Raphaël Beuchot was born in Besançon in 1980 and now lives in Nantes. He is a former engineer from the wood school, but left his job to start up in the field of comic strips, using the name “RaphaëlB”. A successful gamble: he published two albums with Ankama, then won the prestigious Raymond Leblanc competition in 2008, which opened his way to working with the Belgian publisher Le Lombard and he is preparing an album with them for 2011. He is part of La Baie Noire practice.

Emeline Escats was born in Saint-Nazaire in 1982. She is a landscape architect - engineer. After studying at the National Higher Institute for Nature and Landscape in Blois, she worked in various landscape architecture agencies and in an environmental design office. She created De Long en Large in 2008 with a view to offering an approach to green areas and landscapes that takes environmental issues into account in a really significant way. Within this framework, she works on studies and projects on various scales: from regional studies to gardens. She is part of La Baie Noire practice.

Fanny Perrot was born in Nantes in 1984. She studied architecture in Nantes and Barcelona, in schools which give a lot of importance to reflection on the landscape. Since she got her diploma in 2007, she has been working in various architectural agencies in Nantes and the surrounding area. In the near future, she wants to create an agency, together with partners, that combines the disciplines of the architect and the landscape architect. The Chaumont-sur-Loire Garden Festival is the opportunity for her to create an initial project with this in mind.

Camille Picot was born in Paris in 1984. She is a qualified architect who studied at the school of architecture in Nantes and has been working for 2 years with “ARDEPA”, (regional association for the dissemination and promotion of architecture), where she is developing educational workshops based around the town, architecture and landscape, which are intended for young people. She has a passion for music and explores architecture and landscape architecture through various artistic fields. She became aware of plants and their virtues at a very early age and now shows a special interest in the various benefits offered by nature.

Leïla Si Moussa was born in Nantes in 1980. After studying social sciences, she followed a traditional herbalist’s training course in Montpellier. She then turned to botany, to gathering wild plants and to health through plants. She is now a producer and picker of aromatic and medicinal plants in the commune of La Varenne, on the banks of the River Loire.
