The garden

Ambivalence reigns supreme in this garden, with a shadowy, feverish and disquieting delirium giving way to the bubble of euphoric delight before the doors finally open on the world of the marvellous. An initiatory journey, so to speak, a triptych that plays with the emotions. Picturesque virgin landscapes are confronted with the confusion of a disquieting tangle of plant life; everything here is in opposition – light and dark, delirium and delight, dream and nightmare.
The path leads first to deepest melancholy, to the World of Delirium: darkness descends, obscuring the passageways through a maze fashioned from wooden wine crates. Dankness and mist are all-invasive, brooking no refusal, unwelcoming hosts in a harsh, irrational universe.
The second path leads us onwards to the Garden of Delights, a world of pure pleasure where luxuriant vegetation, brilliant colours, and euphoric fragrances fill the landscape.
But it is in the Garden of Wonders that the traveller finally finds rest and serenity. Water is central to the landscape here, soothing the troubled breast; everything is an invitation to contemplation. And so the imagination continues on its way, keeping the spirit of Arcadia alive.

DESIGNERS

YEWO LANDSCAPES -Dominik SCHEUCH and Edina MASSÀNY, landscape architects-

Dominik Scheuch is a landscape architect who graduated from the University of Natural and Technical Sciences in Vienna in 2003. After studying in Austria, Germany and Hungary, he gained experience at various landscape architecture agencies. In 2009, he set up his own landscape architect’s office, “YESDESIGN LANDSCAPES”, which became YEWO LANDSCAPES in 2011. These days, his firm is involved in projects bearing on private and public urban areas, gardens of all kinds, and town-planning focused on landscaping. YEWO LANDSCAPES has won a number of competitions in Germany and Austria. Dominik Scheuch has been teaching classes at Vienna’s Technical University since 2008.

Edina Massàny is a landscape architect who graduated from Budapest Technical University in 2004 and specialises in development of urban areas and landscapes. She completed her Erasmus studies at the School of Architecture and Landscaping in Bordeaux. Her educational path led her to acquire experience in landscape architect agencies in France (Bordeaux) and Belgium (Gent). Before going freelance in 2011, she spent 7 years at a well-known landscaping firm in Hungary, where she worked on various projects bearing on development of public, urban and private areas and also took part in national and international competitions.
