Artistic approach
Katarzyna Kot-Bach’s work is intimately linked with her deep connection to nature. It is a way for her to breathe in nature, to be inspired and fed by it, drawing from it the very matter of her work, the trees full of the local essence that she compels herself daily to transform, sculpt, compose, and recompose.
“Each thought, each emotion, each intention within us gives us access to the dynamics of consciousness and reflects our specific way of SHAPING, CREATING, and SCULPTING, using this universal energy.”
Going beyond the ecological ideology that has a central place in her artistic process, Kot-Bach’s work results from a true communication with nature, in the observation and respect of its cycles (the path of the sun, the water and carbon cycles) as well as through her very personal dialectics that find their source in the very beauty of vegetation. For this solar-powered artist, it isn’t a question of interior or exterior; art unfolds in accordance with life’s own universal energy which continually connects us to the terrestrial elements. Beauty lies at the heart of this nature, and one must simply decode and translate it to better see and read it. Like her mentor, the artist adheres without questioning to the survival of Arte Povera, which today more than ever signifies man’s correlation within the elements and components of life.

With her process entirely focused on nature and natural materials, Katarzyna Kot-Bach has provided three works for display in the stalls of the Domain’s Stables.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
Katarzyna Kot-Bach was born in Poland in 1978 and studied sculpture and art education at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow before moving on to the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. As a young girl, she was awarded 3rd prize and a bronze medal at Poland’s Sculpture Biennial.
After settling in Luxembourg in 2004, Kot-Bach has worked as an independent artist from her Koerich-based studio with the group, “Sixthfloor”.
She frequently participates in international sculpture meetings and symposiums and has gained recognition for her monumental works in wood and bronze. Over the years, her artistic domain has taken on the language of installations, drawing, and land art.
